Paul W. Hughes

Ret. Major Paul W. Hughes, USAF, 92, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away September 27, 2022.  He was born August 24, 1930, in Mineral Wells, West Virginia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oley E. Hughes, and Elsie M. (Derenberger) Hughes; his lovely wife of 48 years, Janet Madge (Davis) Hughes; and his eldest son, Marc Alan Hughes.

Paul is survived by his sons, Michael R. Hughes, Martin J. Hughes, Marvin L. Hughes, and Marlin S. Hughes; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Paul was born in his family home in the hills of West Virginia in 1930, graduated high school at South Side High School in Parkersburg, West Virginia, joined the Air Force in 1950, married the love of his life in 1954, traveled the world in service to his country, had five sons, and retired from the Air Force. He also worked in real estate for Winrock and Century Twenty-One, was an amateur archaeologist with the Tennessee and Arkansas Archaeological Societies and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Paul (dad, grandpa, Uncle Paul, friend, however we knew him) was greatly admired by anyone who knew him and will be equally missed by us all.  We do take solace knowing that he is reunited with those of his loved ones that have gone on before, and the family circle has been enriched by his presence and out Lord and Savior have embraced him eternally.
