Paul A. Nolte, age 92, of Little Rock died Wednesday evening, February 6, 2008. Paul was born to Frederick Emil and Johanna Traugott Nolte on January 19, 1916 in Houstonia, Missouri. He had three brothers and six sisters.
At the beginning of World War II, Paul's Missouri National Guard unit, the 110th Engineers, 35th Division, was activated and came to Camp Robinson for training prior to participation in the invasion of the Philippines at Leyte and in the Battle of Okinawa. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the Battle of Okinawa. He retired from the 212th Signal Battalion of the Arkansas National Guard with the rank of Captain.
While in Little Rock prior to shipping overseas, Paul met and dated Jeanne Reeves. They were married on July 11, 1942 and remained together until Paul's death. After WWII, Paul and Jeanne lived briefly in Kansas City, MO before returning to Little Rock where he lived the remainder of his life. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after more than thirty-four years of service.
For the past forty-five plus years, Paul was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he served as Church Treasurer and was very active in the Lutheran Layman's League. He was a member of the Pulaski Heights Lions Club with over forty-five years of service.
Paul is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Jeanne Nolte; his son Paul A. Nolte, Jr. and wife, Diana; his daughter, Ann Stoker and husband, Owen; his sister, Frieda Hadley and husband, Jack of Kansas City, Missouri; his sister-in-law, Maureen Nolte of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; grandchildren, Cynthia McCrory and husband Scott, Lindsay Stoker, Sandra Lynn Monday and husband James, Denise Wilson and husband Tony, Jennifer Viola and husband Roger; great-grandchildren, Owen McCrory, Matthew Viola, Dakota Monday, Hannah Viola, Zackary Spencer Rose and Cassandra Monday.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 10, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Hillcrest and Kavanaugh Blvd. on Monday, February 11, 2008 beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
