Paul Edward Thrash

Paul Edward Thrash, age 77, of Amity, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022.

He was born on September 19, 1944, in Hot Springs, the son of Ben Thrash and Jewel Boyd Thrash. On January 22, 1965, he was married to Nellie Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Vivian, Louise, Jasper Boyd and Ben Allen.

Paul was retired from Alcoa, formerly Reynolds Metals, in Gum Springs and served as president of the local steel workers union for sixteen years. He was an avid bass fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie Thrash of Amity; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Lisa Thrash of Beaumont, Texas; his daughter, Kim Thrash of Lincoln, Alabama; and five grandchildren, Kirstyn Thrash, Joshua Thrash, Damaris Thrash, Hannah Thrash and Jada Thrash.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. John McAnally officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Jones Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mark Humphries, A. G. Tidwell, Bruce Vaughn, Doug Killian, Anthony Holcombe, Jay Freebolt, Wayne Wheeler and B. J. Johns.
