Patricia "Pat" B. Powell, age 65 of Sherwood, died April 16, 2012. She was the daughter of the late John and Evelyn Barry. Mrs. Powell was born January 28, 1947 in New Haven, CT. She moved to Sherwood at the age of 10 and lived there for more than 55 years. Mrs. Powell graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in 1965, the same year she was named Homecoming Queen. She then attended Hendrix College in Conway where she graduated with a degree in English and Education. Mrs. Powell obtained a Masters of Education degree from the University of Central Arkansas at Conway. She went on to begin a teaching career that spanned more than 37 years at Sylvan Hills, Pulaski Tech, and UALR. Besides spending time with family, Mrs. Powell enjoyed caring for her garden and her dog Lizzy. Mrs. Powell is survived by her brothers and their wives Pete and Angela Barry and Gene and Lane Barry, her two sons and their wives Harry and Maria Fisk and Tim and Jenny Fisk, and four grandchildren Emma, Nathan, Sofia, and Andrew Fisk.
Visitation with the family will be held at Huson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 19th, from 6-7 P.M. with Holy Rosary immediately following. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 20th at 10:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Little Rock. She will be buried alongside her parents at Rest Hills immediately following Mass. Memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 7000 JFK, North Little Rock, AR 72116.
