Pamela Faye Lacefield Benton of North Little Rock, Arkansas died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 11:15 P.M. with her son Jay at her side. Pam was born on April 25, 1948 to Fama and Herman Lacefield. Pam grew up in the small farming community of Humnoke, Arkansas. She graduated from Humnoke High School in 1966. Pam was an outstanding basketball player during her high school years and continued to play the sport she loved into adulthood.
Pam received her Bachelor of Science degree from UALR after attending UCA and Arkansas Tech. Early in her career, Pam worked in Stuttgart for Arkansas County Health Dept. and later for Riceland Foods. She held positions with Carrier and Borden Dairy before moving to Arlington, Texas, where she joined Packaging Corporation of America. She enjoyed many years with PCA in the Human Resources and Employee Relations Dept. When Pam moved back to Arkansas to be closer to her family, she remained with PCA, setting up her office at home. Pam was a very independent and competent woman. She was equally at home in the deer woods or in the corporate world. Her greatest joys in life came from her grandchildren, Miranda and Koty Benton. She was simply Pammie to them. She loved spending time with them. They enjoyed neighborhood cookouts, vacations, birthdays, holiday celebrations, camping, and just being together.
Pam was preceded in death by her beloved mother Fama. She is survived by her son, Jay Benton of North Little Rock; her father, Herman Lacefield of Gambrills, Maryland; brother, Doug Lacefield and his wife Vickie of Gambrills, Maryland; her precious grandchildren, Miranda and Koty Benton, of Stuttgart.
Pam will also be missed by her special friends, neighbors, and co-workers who were like a second family to her.
There will be a memorial service and celebration of Pam?s life at Macedonia Baptist Church in Humnoke on Thursday, May 29 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the church.
