Owen Howard Ferguson, 92, died peacefully at the Brookdale Chenal Heights Senior Living Center in Little Rock on Thursday, October 29, 2020.

He was born June 15, 1928 in Almond, Cleburne County, Arkansas to Finis and Dica Kerlin Ferguson.

Owen graduated from Beebe High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Arkansas State Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas). He was a teacher in the Des Arc School District until entering the United States Army in 1953. Owen received basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and served the remainder of his tour in West Germany.

After completing his military service, Owen joined the U.S. Social Security Administration in Pine Bluff. It was there he met his wife, Iris Oakley Ferguson. Owen and Iris lived in North Little Rock for many years, and worked in the Little Rock office of the Social Security Administration until their retirements. He was an active member of the local chapter of the National Federal Employees Association (NARFE).

Owen enjoyed gardening, travel, visiting with friends, and spending time with family.

Owen is survived by his son, Todd Ferguson (Jennifer), grandchildren Helen and Mark Ferguson, and a sister, Dorris Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his sisters Rosalie Humway and Cathryn Northcutt, and brothers Thad Ferguson, Vincel Ferguson and Joel Ferguson.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, no public memorial service will be held. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Community Foundation Giving Tree Endowment, 5 Allied Drive, Ste. 51110, Little Rock, AR 72202.
