Owen Donald “Don” Carroll, Jr. of Little Rock passed away November 15, 2022, at the age of 75. He was born November 25, 1946, in Little Rock, Arkansas. A Little Rock native, he attended Holy Souls, and Catholic High for Boys. He served nine years in the U.S. Army Reserves with service in the 810th Sta. Hosp. and the 12th Special Forces Airborne. He worked as a fireman/locomotive engineer for the Missouri Pacific-Union Pacific Railroad, and he was the last “fireman” hired in the U.S. under the full crew law. Don was passionate about cars, especially British roadsters. He was honored with the Sales Representative Honors Certification while working at Riverside Motors. He spent the last 20 plus years driving MGBs and could be seen around town in his red MGB with the top down and his pup Joe by his side. He spent many hours as a volunteer at the Little Rock Zoo and loved watching the animals and people interact.
He is survived by his daughter Melissa Carroll McKenna (Charles); granddaughter Katherine Delaney McKenna; brother Steve Carroll of Fayetteville, AR; sister Georga Loyd (Eddie) of Siloam Springs, AR; and good friend Kathy. He is predeceased by his parents Owen D. and Margaret Ann Carroll. There will be a private family ceremony in the upcoming weeks to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Arkansas Zoological Foundation, for the elephants at 1 Zoo Drive, Little Rock, AR. 72205.
