In Loving Memory of Oscar Darrel Williams
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darrel Williams, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, on October 18, 2024. Born on July 10, 1943, he lived a life defined by unwavering love, dedication, and strength.
Darrel was a constant presence in the lives of those who knew him, always there when needed—whether as a friend, a teacher, or a helper. His honesty, wisdom, and work ethic set an example for all, and his reliability and trustworthiness earned him the respect of everyone he encountered. He was a man of action, a “doer” who never shied away from hard work, always driven to provide and care for his friends and family.
He was more than just a hard worker, though—he was a teacher of life skills, showing his loved ones everything from how to fold a map to solving the toughest puzzles. His wisdom and guidance extended beyond practical life skills.
A true workaholic, Darrel never hesitated to give his time to help others, always listening, offering advice, and being a hero to those fortunate enough to know him. His unconditional love extended to everyone, especially his family, who were the center of his world. He was an outdoorsman, a hunter, and a lover of simple pleasures, like sharing a great hug.
His love for his family was unwavering, and he embraced his roles as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather with pride and devotion. He will always be remembered as an all-around good guy and the greatest hero to those he loved.
As we gather to celebrate his life, we find comfort in the words of The Old Rugged Cross, a hymn that he held close to his heart. His faith guided him, and now we entrust him to the care of his Heavenly Father.
Darrel is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Lynn Williams; his sons, Todd (Wife Susie Williams) and Clay Williams (wife Jennifer Williams); his 6 grandchildren: Stephen Tagle (wife Shanate), Samantha Williams, Eve Blankenship, Hunter Sanders, Garrett Sanders, and Chris Davis (wife Jena); 3 great-grandchildren: Penelope Tagle, Judah Tagle, and Jet Davis; brother, Winford Williams (wife Sue Ann); and a host of family and friends who love Darrel and will miss him always. Darrel was preceded by his parents, Mary Williams and John Oscar Williams; and siblings: Annette Leggett, Stoney Williams, Vernon Williams, Edward Williams, and Kenneth Williams.
Darrel graduated from Searcy High School in 1961 and was elected Student Body President. He was a hard working man who retired from three jobs at AMPI, Klenzade/Ecolab, and ICS. He had several favorite activities including hunting, fishing, playing with grandkids and being outdoors. He is remembered for his talent of serving the most massive fish fries.
