Orville Wright

Orville Harmon Wright, 89, of North Little Rock passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010. He was born July 7, 1920 in North Little Rock to the late Joseph Almer and Minnie Elizabeth Gentry Wright. He was a lifelong member of Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church and the Wesley Sunday School class. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served 2 years in Alaska, was in the Normandy invasion and was serving in Paris, France when the war ended. He was co-owner of Chronister and Wright Model Market for 35 years and retired in 1980.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Prudie Wright Taylor and brother, Reagan L. Wright. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elaine Chronister Wright; daughter, Kay Wright Hughes (Terry); three grandchildren, Jason Donham (Karen), Amanda Donham Harden (Ty) and Keith Hughes (Alicia); seven great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Wright; sister, Billie Layne and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Broderick Parker, Ann Blaylock from the Veterans Administration Hospital and the doctors and staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the VA Hospital.
Memorials may be made to Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church, 1723 Schaer St., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Edgewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
