Ora Horton

Ora Loranzo Horton, 92, of Sherwood passed away Monday, December 3, 2012. He was born September 1, 1920 in Blooming Rose, Missouri to Junia Walker Horton and Lee Thomas Horton. He was a decorated World War II veteran in the Battle of Normandy in 1944 and was a CWO in the Second Infantry Division. Ora was in the Special Infantry Division at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He also worked for United States Postal Services and was a member of Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church.
Ora was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Ladean Horton. He is survived by wife, Lola Faye Downs Horton; brother, Robert "Red" Horton of Virginia; sister, Alma Wade of Oklahoma; son, Travis Horton (Cathy) Nevada; stepson, Fred Nalley (Lynn) of Cabot; stepdaughter, Alice Rhoden and Lydia Blaty (T.J.) of North Little Rock; grandsons, Todd Horton (Shari), Chad Horton (Shawn) and Christopher Shultz; granddaughters, Tasha Horton and Marina Horton; six step-grandchildren; nine great-step-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Memorials may be made to Veterans Memorial, North Little Rock, at Ft. Roots Hospital.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. before the service. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Pampa, Texas at a later date. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
