Opal Whitley Anderson, age 78, of Arkadelphia, died Monday, March 12, 2012. She was born on June 28, 1933, at Okolona, the daughter of William Brumette Smithpeters and Lutishia McGooghan Smithpeters. On November 9, 1963, she married Floyd Whitley who preceded her in death on October 28, 1992. On November 3, 1995, she married Curtis Anderson, who preceded her in death on September 4, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Bill Smithpeters, Virgil Smithpeters, Roy Smithpeters, W. B. Smithpeters, Doyle Smithpeters and J. C. Smithpeters; and three sisters, Lois Davis, Esther James and Tug Stewart. She was a lifetime resident of Arkadelphia, a member of the Park Hill Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was employed by Levi Manufacturing for fifteen years and enjoyed counted cross-stitch, cooking and reading. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Lisa Whitley of Glenwood; two grandchildren, Spencer Whitley and Garrett Whitley both of Glenwood; one sister and brother-in-law, Freda Sue and George Barfield of Bald Knob; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Erby Burgess and Dr. Lewis Shepherd officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Caney Cemetery in Bismarck under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Garrett Whitley, R. C. Daniel, Jeff Smithpeters, Rusty Manning, Jay Smithpeters and Jesse Hack. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Twin Rivers Health and Rehab and the members of the Joy Sunday School class. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
