Opal Beatrice Tarvin, 92, of North Little Rock passed away February 6, 2008 in Hillsborough, New Jersey. She was the daughter of William Elijah and Mary Ann (Downs) Stockton one of eight children.
She attended North Little Rock High School. After graduation she married Joe Little Tarvin. They lived most of their lives in North Little Rock and owned Tarvin?s grocery store. Later in her life, she worked for the Army Corp of Engineers in Little Rock, until her retirement. Following the death of her beloved husband, Joe Little Tarvin, Opal sold her home in North Little Rock and moved to Hillsborough, New Jersey where she has lived with her daughter Nell Rose for the past 9 years. During her time in New Jersey, Opal enjoyed watching her great grandchildren in school and athletics. She also enjoyed the frequent visits from her beloved family.
Opal Beatrice was preceded in death by; her husband, parents, siblings Jesse, Grace, Bessie, Donnie, Gertrude, Grady, Thurmon, daughter Mary Ann, granddaughters Janice Gail and Rose Mary, and great grandson Michael Lee. She is survived by daughter, Nell Rose; son, Joe Elijah; 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Opal was a wonderful woman who lived her life with dignity and grace. She loved her friends and family with all of her heart. Opal always wanted to share how proud she was of her loved one?s accomplishments.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday in the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 P.M.
