Opal Meadows

Opal Elizabeth Meadows left her family in death on December 8, 2015. Her life was evident of her industrious nature, by her supporting the needs of her family in sewing, planting seeds, harvesting and canning. She made clothing from flour sacks to satin. Her family life was framed by her culinary delights and her handy work.
The beautiful flowers and creation were proof of a creator to Opal and she found much comfort and joy from the Bible. Her delight in flowers framed her life and created much joy for her family.
She was the only living Charter member of Crystal Valley Baptist Church, which was founded in 1945 by her family. She was a Sunday School teacher, vacation bible school coordinator and involved in all church functions.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, John Andrew and Lexie Belle Tompkins; her husband, Thomas Wilburn Meadows; her brother, Jay Tompkins; and her son, Garry. She is survived by her children, Donna Meadows, Jerry Meadows (Kellye), Mary Ann Parker (Greg), Barbara Ver Meer (Rodney) and Tim Meadows. She had 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary McElrath (Lee); sister-in-law, Laverne Tompkins and a host of nieces and nephews; and a very special friend and care giver, Tory Randle.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral will be Friday at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home, followed by interment in Edgewood Memorial Park.
