Mrs. Opal Maebelle Morden Holt, 75, of Jacksonville, Arkansas died peaceful in her sleep in a local hospital January 9, 2007. She was born August 22, 1931 in Jacksonville to Horace G. and Venie Clement Morden. Mrs. Holt was retired form the V.A. Hospital Little Rock after many years of service. She grew-up in the Bethel United Methodist Church and was a devoted church leader. She taught several people how to play the piano and loved gospel singing. Mrs. Holt was a talented lady with cake decorations and hand painting.
Mrs. Holt was instrumental in the rebuilding of the present church building. She was the first to conduct a Sunrise Easter Service ever held in the Bethel Community. As a result other churches also started their own service.
Mrs. Holt is survived by two sons, Travis Holt and Neil Holt both of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Stephen Holt and Rebecca Rose Holt both of Jacksonville; one brother, Leonard Morden of Jacksonville; three sisters, Adene Gwin of North Little Rock, Lena Grimmett and Corene Mitchell both of Sherwood.
Memorials may be made to Rebsaman Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Bethel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.
