Onis Smith

Onis Smith, 101, of North Little Rock passed away on Friday, February 3, 2012. He was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church.
One of the first electricians to bring electricity to his beloved northern Arkansas and a veteran of World War II, Onis loved gardening, music, and the Scriptures; was a treasure trove of storytelling; and taught Sunday school and attended church much of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Smith; a son, Kenyon (Nola) Smith; 1 granddaughter, Tonya Smith; 1 great-granddaughter, Aly Smith; 2 great-grandsons, JT Espejo and Timothy Espejo; Step-children, Betty (Frank) Walker, Judy (Joe) Jarrett of Texarkana, Texas, Robin (Tom) Welch of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Bill (Nancy) Izard of Little Rock; 13 step-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-grandson.
Onis was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM Monday at Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison, Arkansas.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, 758-1170.
Memorials may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church Music Department.
