Omer L. Short, age 97, of Glenwood, died Monday, December 21, 2015. He was born on January 29, 1918 in Glenwood, the son of Richard Madison Short and Lillie Amanda Reppo Short. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Lambert Short; his parents; six brothers; and four sisters. A sergeant in the United States Army during World War II, he was a disabled American veteran. He was wounded twice in action, the first being at Omaha Beach in Normandy. He was given two Purple Hearts and Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. He had the American Defense Service Ribbon and three bronze service stars. He is survived by his nephews and nieces. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 24, 2015, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the honor guards of the United States Army and Thaddeus H. Carraway, V.F.W. Post #278. Pallbearers will be R. J.
