Oliver Claude Flynn

Oliver Claude “O.C.” Flynn, 88, of Little Rock, AR passed away on April 17, 2023. He was born on September 16, 1934 in Humphrey, AR to the late Frank Edward Flynn and Artie Ertus Scroggins. O.C. was the oldest of their six children.

O.C. is a Fourth Degree Knight in the Slovak, AR. Knights of Columbus and was an active member of the Holy Souls Men’s Club. He is a veteran of the United States Navy and retired accountant from the Arkansas State Department of Finance and Administration. After retirement, he started Flynn Remodeling and Construction with his son, Gary. He enjoyed learning new things and discovered many hobbies like beekeeping, candle making, fishing and making “crappie condos,” and most recently birdwatching and making bird houses. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed being in the outdoors. What he enjoyed most was undoubtedly spending time with his family and friends and his greeting “What’s your hurry? Sit down and stay awhile” is a testament to his utmost desire for connection with others.

O.C. is preceded in death by his parents, brothers David Carl Flynn and James E. Flynn, sisters Ruby Faye Flynn Duke Self and Helen Flynn, and grandson Robert Eugene Flynn.

Remaining to celebrate O.C.’s memory are his wife of 64 years, Martha Ann Hiznay Flynn, sister, Catherine “Sally” Ahrens, son, Gary (Robbye) Flynn, daughter, Lori (Chris) Schaffhauser, grandchildren, Patrick (Brittany) Flynn, Vicki (Blake) Walden, Kristie (Cameron Fuller) Flynn, Sara (Michael) Cash, Rachel Schaffhauser, Katherine Schaffhauser, great-grandson, Robert Oliver Flynn and many nieces, nephews and friends.

His memory will be cherished, and he will be deeply missed by all who love him. O.C. never met a stranger and his ease and joy in speaking with others led to many lasting relationships. The family finds comfort knowing he is no longer in pain or limited by physical ailments.

A Rosary will be held in Little Rock, AR. at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church on Sunday, April 23, at 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 24, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church in Little Rock, AR. The burial will follow at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and Cemetery in Slovak, AR.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church in Little Rock, AR., Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and Cemetery in Slovak, AR., or any charity of your choice.
