Odis Samuel McDonald, 87, of Little Rock, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010. He was born in Shipp's Ferry, Arkansas on January 23, 1923 to William Franklin McDonald and Jenna Jane Franks McDonald.
As a carpenter who took great pride in his trade, he worked for the C.C.C., installed glass in the World Trade Center and worked for Coleman Dairy and Wilson Construction Co. among others. He was also a 32nd Degree Blue Lodge Mason for over fifty years and a member of Knights Templar for forty-nine years.
He is survived by his son, Steven Paul McDonald and wife, Catrina Prater; step-daughters, Brenda Sue Hicks and husband, Allen and Delores K. Casey and husband, Larry, all of Little Rock; grandson, Charles Wayne Hicks; sister, Hattie Jane Mosier of Mt. View; and very special nieces, Betty Snyder, Donna Lewis and Carolyn Heitman who took care of him; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Sanford Cecil McDonald of Little Rock and Lile Dee McDonald of Mt. Home and granddaughter, Jennifer M. McQuerry.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Willard Zeiser. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.
