Odis E. Chapman

Odis Eugene Chapman, 90, of Scott, Arkansas, entered his heavenly reward on November 21, 2024. Born on September 13, 1934, in Scott, Odis dedicated his life to serving God, his family, and his community.

Ordained on February 8, 1959, into the Southern Baptist ministry, Odis devoted over six decades to spreading the Gospel. He pastored numerous churches and preached more than 800 revivals, leaving a legacy of faith that touched countless lives.

Odis married the love of his life, Louise Conrade, on July 3, 1952. Their bond, rooted in faith and love, was a testament to their shared devotion to God. Together, they raised two sons, Doug and Ron, and took immense pride in their family, which grew to include six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandbaby. Odis’s love for his family was evident in the joy he found in his “grandbabies” and “great-grands.”

A man of many talents and passions, Odis was also deeply connected to the land. When not ministering, he could be found in the fields, farming with the same dedication he brought to his ministry. As president of the agriculture movement, Odis led a farmers' strike that gained national attention, even taking their cause to the White House.

Odis’s sharp wit and sarcasm earned him the nickname “Razor.”

Odis is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Louise Chapman; his sons Doug (Julie) and Ron (Shirley) Chapman; his siblings Dorothy Moore, Kathleen Adams, and Donald Chapman; his sister-in-law Mollie Chapman; six grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his siblings Bobby (Lillian) Chapman, Emmett (Ramona) Chapman, Carl (Paulette) Chapman, and Wendell Chapman, as well as brothers-in-law KO Adams and Billy Moore.

A burial service will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date. The family honors his remarkable legacy of faith, love, and leadership, and invites all who knew him to remember the impact he made on their lives.
