Odessa V. Lindsey

Odessa V. Lindsey, age 77, of Bonnerdale, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, in her home. She was born on November 9, 1933, at Glenwood, the daughter of John Jefferson Yarbrough and Artie Eunice Bates Yarbrough Adams. On August 2, 1952, she was married to Charles Lindsey who preceded her in death on March 15, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Eugene Yarbrough and William "Billy" Yarbrough; one sister, Levada Yarbrough Lindsey; and her step-father, William "Buster" Adams. As a lifelong Christian, Odessa dearly loved and cherished her church family. She was an active member of the Pearcy Gospel Church. She retired from Alltel, formerly known as Allied Telephone Company, after twenty years of service as a telephone operator and supervisor. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden, oil painting, singing, fishing and most of all loved taking care of and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Danny Charles and Stacy Lindsey of Baytown, Texas, Virginia Ann and Randy Miller of Bonnerdale, Johnny Ray Lindsey of Russellville and Velva Kay and Ernie Nichols of Atlanta, Texas; five grandchildren and their spouses, Dana and Kyle Cowart, Dathan and Rhonda Lindsey, Keri Lindsey, John and Angel Lindsey and Ryan and Melissa Miller; four great-grandchildren, Dodge Cowart, Kallee Cowart, Kaylee Lindsey and Braden Lindsey; three step-grandchildren, Sean Nichols and his wife, Carmen, Calvin Nichols and Justin Lenderman; one step-great-grandchild, Molly Nichols; and four brothers, Johnny Yarbrough, Ray Yarbrough and Marlon Yarbrough, all of Glenwood and Marion Yarbrough of Hot Springs. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 13, 2011, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Kyle Cowart and Sister Kathleen Griffin officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Mazarn Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Lindsey, Dodge Cowart, Dathan Lindsey, Jeffery Yarbrough, Calvin Nichols and Chris Lindsey. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
