O'Dell Dickinson, age 66, beloved brother, companion, uncle and friend, departed this earthly life on October 11, 2006. He was born to Henry Ernest and Willie Walthall Dickinson on April 8, 1940 in Camden, Arkansas, where he was reared. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1958.
O'Dell is survived by his sister, Marchie Hutcheson (Branford) of Camden; companion, Harry Weeks; brother, Eldon Dickinson, of Florida; sisters, Loretta (Jack) Billingsley and Henrietta (Carl) McMahan of Camden; Sharon (Robert) Skidmore of Texas; nieces, Jo Ella Hutcheson (John) O'Hara, and Joy Hutcheson (Carl) Ramsay of Camden; nephew, Lyle Hutcheson (Charlotte) of Camden; nieces, Le Nora Hutcheson Hoots (Phillip) of North Little Rock; Elda Dickinson (Tim) Larche, Melissa Dickinson and Carly Dickinson of Florida; five great nephews and one great niece; four great-great nephews and two great-great nieces; and a host of friends.
O'Dell made his home in Little Rock, Arkansas. His drafting, map-making and design talents and skills were well respected and utilized by numerous privately owned planning and development corporations and public planning commissions. For the past fifteen years and until his death, he was a cadastral cartographer for the Pulaski County Assessor.
He was one of the founders of the Metropolitan Community Church in North Little Rock where he served faithfully on the Board of Directors and Treasurer. He was a delegate to national conferences where the church's policies were established. O'Dell was a man of integrity and courage, overcoming obstacles in many aspects of his life which would have defeated others. His keen wit and wisdom, friendship, loving, compassionate and caring spirit will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be this evening, from 4-6 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court (corner I-630 and Barrow), Little Rock. Funeral Service will be at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at the funeral home, with the Reverends Jack Billingsley and Barbara Freeman officiating. Interment will be at Bluff City Cemetery, Bluff City, Arkansas on Monday, October 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m.
