Odell "Dell" Blackmon, Jr., 60, of Little Rock went to be with the Lord on September 16, 2009. Born in Magnolia, Arkansas on October 27, 1948 to Odell and Rena Mae Blackmon, Sr., he was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He and his ability to make them laugh will be dearly missed by his beloved family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley Burgess Blackmon; sons, Direco and Nakia Blackmon; daughter, Bianca Willis; stepsons, Ronald Robinson (Susan) and Albert Burgess; stepdaughter, Shalena Burgess; sisters, Carrie Blackmon, Paula Abraham (Fred) and Mary Cathey (James); sister-in-law, Dona Blackmon and his mother, Rena Mae Blackmon. Also surviving are nephews, Rodriquez Holley (Cherika), Lamont Blackmon (Alyssa) and Jermaine Poindexter; nieces, Regina, Shontrice and Donita Blackmon and Crystal and Mary Catherine Hubbard; cousins, Johnnie and Ruby Dryver, Van Mixon, Geneva Dillard (Tyrone), Arthur Blackmon (Rosetta) and Dave Blackmon; grandchildren, Donte' and Keishon Burgess and CuPrentice Harris, Jr.; best friend, Rev. Bobby J. Harriss and a host of friends and family. Dell was preceded in death by his father and his brother, J. T. Blackmon.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
