Norvil Scott, Jr., age 94, of Benton, formerly of Glenwood, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021.
He was born on September 6, 1927, in Mauldin, Arkansas, the son of Norvil A. Scott and Cora Hettie Summitt Scott. On August 5, 1947, he married Ann Plyler Scott who preceded him in death on June 13, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Scott. On June 25, 2005, he married Emogene York Reid Scott who passed away four days after his death, Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
Norvil retired after 45 years with ROHR Industries in California beginning as a welder and eventually a supervisor. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and a member and deacon of the Glenwood Free Will Baptist Church. An excellent carpenter, he enjoyed woodworking and “tinkering” on his cars.
He is survived by two sons, John Scott of California and Don Scott of Florida; three step-children and their spouses, Lew and Carolyn Reid of Benton, Sheila and Tom Sass of Brentwood, Tennessee and Randy and Loretta Reid of Glenwood; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Services for Norvil and Emogene Scott will be held together at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 13, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Ron Parker, Bro. Joe Ray Short and Bro. Brian Hill officiating. Military honors for Mr. Scott will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard with the flag presented to his oldest grandson, Matthew Scott.
Visitation for the Scotts will be Saturday, 9:00 AM until service time.
Interment for Mr. Scott will be held at 3:30 PM, Saturday, at Rocky Cemetery in Sims. Interment for Mrs. Scott will be held following the funeral services at Liberty Cemetery in Newhope.
Pallbearers will be Terry Summitt, Jerry Summitt, Connor Stroope, Tommy Jenkins, Mike Henry and Bill Stroope.
Honorary pallbearer will be Darrell Townsend.
