Norma Stroope

Norma Sue Stroope, age 65, of Camden, died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden, AR. She was born at Amity, AR, October 17, 1948 to Walter Olen and Estelle Thomason Stroope.

She graduated from Amity High School in May of 1966. She continued her education at Henderson State University where she earned a bachelor and masters degree in Biology and education. She taught at Murfreesboro her first year then moved to Hope High School and taught twelve years. She retired because of her disability. While living at Hope she worked as a nurses' aide and taught adjunct classes for Henderson. She attended the First United Pentecostal Church in Arkadelphia until her health failed.

Sue loved teaching biology, growing things, singing, reading her Bible and cooking. She often created her own recipes.

She was preceded in death by father and a special cousin, Roger Lambert, whom she always referred to as her brother.

She is survived by her mother, Estelle Stroope, her sister and brother-in-law, Leota and James Harvey, a niece and her husband, Michelle and Shannon Vaughan and niece, Jennifer Harvey all of Camden, AR, nephew, Walter Olen Harvey with the U. S. Army in Stuttgart, Germany. She is survived by great nephew and great niece, Matthew and Heather Vaughan of Camden and her Aunt Lucy Bratton of Hot Springs.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, February 27th at Sweet Home Church near Amity, AR, with John Small officiating. Burial will be in Sweet Home Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 PM till service time at the Church on Thursday under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
