Nora Lucille Dunn, age 82 of Arkadelphia died Thursday, October 12, 2006 at the Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center. Lucy was born in Village (Columbia County), AR on February 26, 1924, to parents Ray and Mary Lee Crumpler Bailey.
For many years, she worked at the family restaurant in Magnolia, "The Ole Man's Place. Her home cooked pies were legendary, as was her commitment to make sure that every customer was served well. She also was a homemaker, a wonderful wife, mother and sister and was known as Meemaw to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A woman of deep Christian faith, she was active in Jackson Street and Asbury United Methodist church in Magnolia until 1983 and continued to remain active in the First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia until she fell and broke her hip in 2003. Her life demonstrated the truth of "Proverbs 12:4 that "a virtuous woman is a crown to her husband."


She is survived by her devoted family including her husband, Charles Edward Dunn of Arkadelphia; two sons, Charles DeWitt Dunn and wife, Jane of Arkadelphia and Michael Edward Dunn and wife, Mary of Leesburg, Virginia; five grandchildren: Aimee Shouse and husband, Robert of Macomb, Illinois, James Dunn of Kawasaki, Japan, Joseph Dunn and wife, Rachel of Bryant, Meredith Dunn of Washington DC, Mary E. Dunn of Arkadelphia; three great-grandchildren: Emma and Meghan Shouse of Macomb, Illinois and Ethan Charles Dunn of Bryant; one sister, Dorothy Cook of Magnolia; one brother, Dale Bailey of Taylor; and seven loving nieces who lived across the South.


Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 14, 2006 in Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel. Interment to follow at 3:00 PM in the New Hope Cemetery near the family home place outside of McNeil (Columbia County). Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday at the funeral home.
