Nona Cook, age 80, of Norman, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019. She was born on May 4, 1938, in Norman, the daughter of Clarence Hill and Ona M. Petty Hill. On June 23, 1973, she was married to the true love of her life, George Cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Ruth Cook. She was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Mount Ida. Nona taught elementary school for over forty-two years in the public-school systems, until her retirement. Not long after Nona retired, she returned back to teaching with the Faith Outreach Academy in Amity for five additional years. It went without saying, Nona truly loved children and making a difference in their young lives. She knew how important instilling knowledge at an early age was and there are many, to this day, that remember the love and care she always extended. She is survived by her husband, George Cook of Norman; numerous cousins and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 23, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. Tommy Smith officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to the funeral services. Interment will be in the Black Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Shephard, Ralph Hamilton, Jason Whitaker, Travis Hill, Darren Hill and Nathan Hill. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
