Nina Dale Louton

March 12, 1948 — July 2, 2021

Nina Dale Louton, age 73, of Hot Springs, passed into Heaven on Friday, July 2, 2021.

She was born on March 12, 1948, in Hot Springs, the daughter of Hermes Charles Casey and Dona Mae Hulsey Casey. She is preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; and two brothers.

Nina graduated from Cutter Morning Star and later from Henderson State University. On November 26, 1969, she married Jimmy O. Louton. She began her teaching career at Mountain Pine School and subsequently obtained her Master’s Degree in Education and began teaching Special Education. Nina retired in 1998 after 29 years of teaching and became an accomplished artist working from her studio in Hot Springs. She specialized in watercolors, pottery, acrylics, oils and pastels.

Sharing her wisdom, compassion, and knowledge with those around her, Nina possessed unconditional love for her family and always treated everyone equally who came into her life. Nina loved to spend time with friends, family and especially her grandchildren whenever possible.

Nina spent much of her time during retirement teaching art workshops to all ages at her studio and as a resident artist, with “Arkansas Learning through the Arts,” in art classes in the Hot Springs School District. She was a long-time member of the Traditional Art Guild of Hot Springs, a member of the Arkansas Arts Center and The Fine Arts Center of Hot Springs. Nina’s art has been exhibited at the Hot Springs Annual Fine Arts Center, “Art on the Corner”, The Legacy, The Artists’ Workshop, Whittington Gallery and Studios, and on art-exchange.com.

Recognized as a master potter, Nina’s art accolades include first place in “Win, Place and Show Art,” a state-wide contest, and her work was accepted twice to tour with the Arkansas Heritage Department’s, “Small Works on Paper”.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jimmy O. Louton of Hot Springs; two sons, Jimmy D. Louton of Hot Springs and Deric Louton of Fayetteville; one daughter, Jaime Louton of Hot Springs; five grandchildren, Ashlynn Louton, Bailey Louton, Zayne Louton, Madelyn Louton and Jocelyn Louton; her brother, Richard Casey of Bonnerdale; her sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Andy Anderson of Hesperia, California; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
