Nicoletta “Nicky” Hollingshead, age 93, of Lonoke, and previously of Amity, gained her angel wings on Saturday, January 21, 2023, due to complications from Covid-19.
She was born on February 19, 1929, to Homer and Faye Jobe Rose. After graduating from Amity High School, she married Reeves Hollingshead in 1946. They had two children, Deborah and Michael (deceased), and they also adopted their granddaughter, Shayne, with whom she shared an extraordinary maternal bond. Nicky and Reeves bought what became known as “Hollingshead Store” in 1950, from her mother and father and she owned and operated the store until Reeves’ death in 1989. Many wonderful memories were made with the people of Amity and surrounding areas during her time at the store.
She loved to garden and be in her yard and had many beautiful flowers, purple iris being her favorite. She was an avid bird watcher, loved Razorback football and a good game of scrabble. She never met a stray cat she didn’t love and her favorite getaway was any one of the area lakes. She was a precious soul and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her two granddaughters, Dr. Shayne Conine of Little Rock and Tara Hollingshead Rollins and her husband, James, of Arkadelphia; her two great-grandsons, Grant and Carson Rollins of Arkadelphia; a special nephew, Joe A. Rose; several nieces and nephews, along with numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
The family will hold a visitation from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, January 27, 2023, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood. Please feel free to come share your favorite memory of Nicky with us.
A heartfelt thank you to the past and present staff of Lonoke Health and Rehab for taking such wonderful care of our cherished loved one.
