Nelwyn “Nel” Glynn Jackson, age 91, of Fort Worth, entered eternal peace on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at CHI St. Vincent’s Hospital, Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Nel was born on August 16, 1929, the eighth of nine surviving children and was the daughter of the late Paris G. Reece and Elizabeth Perry Reece of Itasca, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Frank D. Jackson; her son, Charles Christopher Jackson; her sisters, Ruth, Mildred, Opaline and Vera Lee, as well as brothers, R.D. Reece, Paris G. Reece II and Paul Reece.
She is survived by her children, Frank Jackson II and Margo Elizabeth Myers, both of Amity, Arkansas; grandchildren, Margo Elise Jackson, Katie Myers, Hannah Myers, Jeremiah Myers, Nick Myers and Yana Myers; and a great-grandchild, Karolina Myers. She leaves loving memories of her life long best friend and sister, Dovie (Jackie) Reece Hughes.
She graduated from Itasca High School in 1947 and immediately followed her sisters to nursing school at TCU. While attending nursing school, she met and married her lifelong husband, Col. Frank D. Jackson on October 3, 1951. Together they built a life legacy of love, support and devotion to their children and the Reece family. She remained close to all her siblings and their offspring throughout her wonderful life. She was always there when family needed her.
In 1982 she was listed as one of the top one hundred nurses in Tarrant County. She loved her profession and was very good at it. It seemed the family business was nursing, as all five sisters were trained and educated as nurses as well.
She was a lifelong member of the Fort Worth Women’s Club and devoted much of her time to her beloved church, Meadow Ridge Baptist Church of Fort Worth. She loved both pastors and their families, Pastor Lee Johnson and Pastor Randal Lyle. She said she often felt like a mother to much of the diverse and growing church membership.
