Nellie Joyce Turbyfill, 87, of Benton, Arkansas went to be with the Lord November 15, 2022. She was born February 1, 1935, in Benton to the late Raymond Thomas Zuber and Docia Fay Roberson Zuber.
Nellie married the love of her life, Leland, on April 2, 1954. Leland left and served over two years in the Navy. While he was gone, his new wife, her father, his father, and his brothers began building a home for the newlyweds. Much to Leland's surprise, the home was move in ready when he returned from the Navy and they began their married life in that home and raised their family there. Nellie passed peacefully holding Leland's hand in that very home.
Nellie was a member of River Street Church of Christ. She was baptized in 1954. Nellie enjoyed working in the yard and wasn’t afraid to jump on the riding lawn mower and cut grass. Nellie always decorated her home beautifully for the holidays. She was an amazing cook and her family and friends always looked forwards to her Sunday roasts, thanksgiving dressing, and strawberry pies. Nellie was a natural family caregiver who lovingly cared for both her family and her in-laws. Her door was always open to everyone, and she was willing to help in any way possible. Nellie was very creative and could sew just about anything.
Preceding Nellie in death are her parents; infant siblings: Baby girl Zuber and Harold Gene Zuber; and sister, Phyllis Ray McGhee.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of over 68 years, Dewey Leland Turbyfill of Benton, Arkansas; daughters: Tammy Bunt (Denver) of Benton, and Angela Sue Murphey (Timothy Jon) of Niceville, Florida; grandchildren: Mark Alan Couch (Hannah), Paul Propst, Kendall Jon Murphey (Emily), Thomas Aaron Murphey, and Matthew Christian Murphey; siblings: Dorothy Fay Styles of Benton, Tommy Zuber (Sharon) of Benton, and Kenneth Zuber (Katherine) of Beebe, Arkansas; and many family members and friends who love Nellie and will miss her always.
Special gratitude to Saline Memorial Hospice nurses, chaplain, and aides for your kindness and tender care of Nellie.
