Nell “Memom” Ray, 87, of North Little Rock and a dozen other cities and towns, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Nell was born August 31st, 1937, to the late Eugene and Zelma Nolan and was proceeded in death by her husband and the great love of her life, Bill “Poppy” Ray, in 2006.
Memom is survived by her daughters Robin Bauer and son-in-law David Bauer, daughter Sweetpea Copeland and son-in-law Donnie Copeland, as well her grandchildren Stephanie Dycus (Gary), Stephen Sanford (Rebekah), Cory Copeland (Bri), Cody Copeland (Sarah), Coby Copeland (Rachel), Stacie Murphy (Josh), and Stratton Fieber (Jazzy). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Sienna Copeland, Nova Sanford, Knox Dycus Jude Sanford, Griffin Sanford, Tatum Dycus, Cub Copeland, Poppy Copeland, Crue Dycus, Arwen Copeland, Wolf Copeland, Fisher Murphy, Foster Murphy, Beckham Fieber, and Huck Copeland.
Memom was the funniest grandmother you could ever meet. She was loving and supportive to everyone in her life and was always ready for a game of Phase 10 or any other card or board game. Earlier in life, Memom and Poppy would travel the country in their RV, visiting their children and grandchildren. They enjoyed skiing, reading, and spending time together. After Poppy’s passing, Memom was supported by her family and enjoyed watching game shows and having her large family over for dinner and to play games. Some of her family’s favorite memories are of them gathered around the kitchen table, a raucous game of some sort going on as Memom watched them with a loving smile on her face.
Our Memom will be missed by every single person who knew her. With her passing, the world grows a little dimmer and heaven a little brighter.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, March 31, 2025 at Apostolic Church in North Little Rock with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 in Farmerville, Louisiana.
