Nedra LaVonne Smith, 90, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2023. LaVonne was born on February 27, 1933, in Beebe, AR, to the late Roy and Mabel McKinney.
LaVonne, was a kind and caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a devoted member of Park Hill Presbyterian Church and found great solace and strength in her faith. Lavonne was an active member of the church community, participating in various church activities and cherishing the fellowship she found there.
LaVonne was a dedicated executive secretary, serving as the trusted right hand to the regional vice presidents of Kroger for many years. Her commitment to her work and attention to detail made her an invaluable asset to the company.
Outside of her professional life, LaVonne had a passion for traveling and exploring new places. She loved immersing herself in the vibrant atmosphere of Razorback football and basketball games, cheering on her beloved team with unwavering enthusiasm. LaVonne’s love for sports extended beyond the television screen, as she attended games as a season ticket holder from 1953-2016 and shared the joy of victory with her fellow fans.
Family was of utmost importance to LaVonne. She is survived by her niece, Marsha McKinney (Steve), stepdaughters, Jan Smith Felgate and Vickie Smith Pitt, as well as her nephew Eric, great nieces x and y and step-grandchildren Jack and Alice Felgate. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Joe Smith, her brother Wendell McKinney, sister-in-law Joanne Swayze McKinney, and nephew John McKinney. LaVonne cherished the time spent with her family and friends and took great pleasure in their company.
A memorial service honoring LaVonne’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 10, at Park Hill Presbyterian Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Park Hill Presbyterian Church in memory of LaVonne.
LaVonne’s warm and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love for her family, friends, and cats will forever be remembered, and her memory will continue to bring comfort and joy to those whose lives she touched.
