Naomi Maynard

Naomi Marie Maynard, age 86, passed away peacefully on October 14th, 2020 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was born July 3rd, 1934 in Higden, Arkansas to James and Ester Johnson. She eloped in Vegas on April Fools Day in 1963 with her beloved husband of 44 years Paul Gordon Maynard who preceded her in death in 2007.

Naomi is survived by her brother JB Johnson, her sister Mary Verser, her two sons Michael P. Maynard, and Mitch (Karyn) Maynard, and the loves of life, her grandchildren Katelyn (Tyler) Bridges, McKynna Maynard, Faith Maynard, and McGraw Maynard. She was preceded in death by her sisters Irene Taylor & Ollie Spires, and her brothers Arthur Johnson & Johnny Johnson.

Naomi worked for the FBI in Washington DC when she met Paul who was in the Marines. They moved quite a bit during the first few years of their marriage with the armed forces but ended up in Arkansas in 1971 and never left. Naomi stayed at home with her sons (they were a full time job) until they finished school and then she went to work for the BX at Little Rock Air Force Base. She loved gardening and collecting antiques. Naomi was a member of Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church.

Please join us for a celebration of her life on Wednesday, October 21st at 11:30 am at Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church (9008 Highway 107, Sherwood, AR) with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:30 am.  State of AR COVID-19 directives: Face coverings required.  Maintain social distancing.
