Nancy (Nan) Yates Howard went to her heavenly home on April 27,2024, at her daughter’s home in Little Rock. She was Born November 9 th , 1936, to the late Faye and Oscar Yates. She had a second set of parents that raised her, the late Addie and Jim Crawford of Hot Springs.
She was married to the late Ray Howard of Hot Springs for 41 wonderful years. She is survived by her son Mike Howard (Diana) of Sherwood, her daughter Edie Twitty (Paul) of Little Rock and her grandson Dustin Howard (Leslie) of Hot Springs. She had two granddaughters, Abby and Hannah Twitty of Little Rock and two great grandchildren, Eli and Eliza Howard of Hot Springs.
She had a very fulfilling and adventurous life. She was always ready to go anywhere with her family and friends to enjoy doing the things she loved. She had a very happy and contagious personality and was always ready to help anyone that needed her. She loved the outdoors and spent her younger days fishing and camping with her family at Lake Ouachita in Hot Springs. She loved to garden and had the most beautiful roses and hostas. She was a huge animal lover and rescued many dogs and animals over the duration of her life. She felt like God put us here to care for all animals and she really lived that out in her life. Her faithful dog (Cuddles) was by her side when she took her last breath.
After retiring from the Little Rock School District, she started her second career buying and selling antiques. She did this for many years and loved going to garage sales and auctions to find all kinds of treasures. She turned this into a business and enjoyed doing this with her children for many years. Her faith was very important to her and she started her days by praying for her family. She loved and believed in Jesus Christ and she was very vocal about her faith and her relationship with Him.
She was always at peace and was always happy. She enjoyed her life right up until the very end. She has left her family with many great memories and a beautiful legacy that will live on for many generations. Her family loved and adored her. She would love for everyone who shares her feelings toward animals to go spend a day at a local animal shelter and volunteer their time to help save them or make a donation to a shelter of their choice in lieu of sending flowers.
She always expressed gratitude and appreciation for the Gentiva Hospice caregivers that took such good care of her during the past year. She also expressed a special thanks, and love for her daily caregiver, Ki, who took great care of her and made her days happy and enjoyable. There will be a
