Nancy "Diane" Rutherford, 79, of North Little Rock met her Lord and Savior, face to face, on October 8th. She was born on September 12, 1945, in Little Rock to Charles Edward and Anna Carlene Means. One of three kids, she grew up in North Little Rock. She graduated from North Little Rock High School and later took classes at UALR. She spent most of her career as a bookkeeper. She started dating the love of her life, Al Rutherford, when she was 14 years old. They were married in 1968 and enjoyed 48 years together before he went to see Jesus in 2016. They had one child, Stacey Diane, that they loved and cared for their entire lives. Diane loved to be creative. She was an artist through painting, crafts and water gardening. She loved plants and could grow absolutely anything. Her other love was animals. From a young age she had dogs and horses. She cared for and enjoyed God's creations her entire life. Diane made many great choices in life, but the most powerful choice she made was choosing Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She attended That.Church for five years and then services at Foxridge Assisted Living for 8 years. We are so thankful that her choice of Jesus is why she enjoys heaven today.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Anna Carlene and Charles Edward Means. She is survived by her brother, Charles Edward Junior and his wife, Corrine; Sister, Mary Lynn Blessing and husband, Don; daughter, Stacey Harness and husband, Scott; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and a host of sister in laws and brother in laws, nieces, nephews and friends. We would like to extend a special thank you to Foxridge Assisted Living where she lived for the last 8 years. And to Sherwood nursing and Rehab that cared for her all summer long. It took many hands to care for her and we are so grateful for your love and kindness.
One special thank you to the most special sister ever, Mary Blessing, who cared for Diane her entire life. Born when Mary was just 5 years old, Diane was always getting into something. Mary lovingly guided her and cared for her, cleaning up when Diane was supposed to and was always there as a sister and friend that Diane needed. The last eight years of her life, Mary spent time almost every day with her. She bought her anything she needed, sat with her and cared for her every need. Aunt Mary, we can never repay all that you have done for mom, but we know you would just say that you wanted to do it. Thank you for everything!
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to That.Church so the gospel can go forward!
A visitation will take place at That.Church (901 East Kiehl Ave Sherwood) at 9:00 AM on Monday, October 14, 2024 followed by a funeral service at 9:30 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
