Nancy McSpadden

Reverend Nancy Kate McSpadden passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

She was born March 3, 1953 in Little Rock, Arkansas, a daughter of D.E. and Joann (Sweet) McSpadden. Nancy was raised in the Rose City neighborhood of North Little Rock and graduated from Northeast High School and Bethel College in Tennessee. During the following years she pursued a career in Christian Education, serving First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Russellville and Methodist churches in Nashville, Tennessee, Monticello and Magnolia, Arkansas.

Nancy graduated from Memphis Theological Seminary in 1996 and stayed at the school as Dean of the Chapel and as a member of library staff. She was ordained by the Arkansas Presbytery at the Rose City Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Bobby Coleman asked the questions and the Reverend Doctor Mary Lin Hudson delivered the charge. Following her appointment as Associate pastor at the Germantown Cumberland Presbyterian Church she became Chaplain for Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas in 2003. After leaving in 2013 she attended Culinary School and learned to bake.

Nancy has served on the Board of Trustees at Bethel University and was a member of the Ministry Council of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Recently she had served the fine people of Shell Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Pine Bluff.

Nancy is survived by her brother, D. Larry McSpadden, of Canton, Missouri; nieces, Hannah McSpadden, of Maumelle, Arkansas and April Soman, of Little Rock, Arkansas; nephews, David Craig McSpadden of Columbia, Missouri, Ryan J. McSpadden, of Canton, Missouri, and Rueben Swann.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved brother, Bobby McSpadden.

Inurnment and Graveside Service will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock, Arkansas at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2020 with Reverend Jolinne Balentine-Downey of Millington, Tennessee officiating.
