Nancy Ann Rice Lawson age 73 of Arkadelphia died Friday, July 30, 2010. She was born November 10, 1936 the daughter of William Edward and Ruby Cheek Rice. Nancy was a 1957 graduate of Hendrix College and received her ME from Ouachita Baptist University in 1974. She was Human Relations Consultant ATAC Center at O.B.U. 1969-71 and Assistant Superintendent and Interim Superintendent, Arkadelphia Public Schools 1971 until her retirement in 1992. Nancy was a past president of the Arkansas Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, past president of the Arkansas state Reading Council and a member of the selection committees for: Arkansas Teacher of the Year, Governor's School Staff, Outstanding Elementary Schools in Arkansas and State Textbooks. She was a member of various bridge clubs, Philharmonic Club, a Charter member of PEO BG chapter, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William "Bill" Rice Jr.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years Marvin A. Lawson, two sons, Marvin A. Lawson Jr., wife Renee and their daughters Elizabeth and Alexandra all of Texarkana, TX and Alan Rice Lawson and his son John Alan both of Fayetteville, AR

Graveside funeral services will be 11 AM Monday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Arkadelphia. Relatives and friends will conduct the ceremony. Visitation will be 2-4 PM Sunday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Marvin and Bessie Lawson Scholarship, University House 300, U of A, Fayetteville, AR 72701-1201.
