Nancy Howard

Nancy Joyce (Dawley) Howard, age 79, of Hot Springs , formerly of Arkadelphia, passed away April 25, 2011. Nancy was born February 18, 1932 in Little Rock , AR to John Parker Dawley, Sr. and Lorraine Helen Reichstadt Dawley.


She graduated from Nashville High School , Nashville , AR and Henderson State University , Arkadelphia , AR where she attained a Masters in Education with a certificate in public school counseling. She retired after 37 years as a public school teacher and counselor. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at the First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia, past President of PEO Sisterhood Chapter BG, past President of Clark County Retired Teachers, past President of Delta Kappa Gamma, active in the Susanna-Wesleyan Circle, United Methodist Women, Evans-McLean Sunday School Class and past member of the D.A.R.


Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, John P. Dawley, Jr.; and one sister, Carolyn Marie Cooley.


Survivors are one daughter, N. Lorraine Howard of Hot Springs; one son, G. Lee Howard and his wife Glenda of Mountain Pine; one granddaughter, Emily J. Young of Hot Springs ; one grandson, Brian Keiss and his wife Chasity of Ardmore, OK; numerous nieces and nephews.


Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, April 29th at Nashville Cemetery , Nashville , AR with Rev. Carroll Jackson officiating. Arrangements made by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.


The family would like to extend special thanks to the nursing staff of Odyssey Hospice Group and the nursing staff of Quapaw Health and Rehab.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arkadelphia First United Methodist Church or the Clark County Library.
