Nancy Higginbotham

Nancy Kay Higginbotham, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was born on June 27, 1960, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She went to be with Jesus on February 18, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.

Nancy's heart was boundlessly generous and selfless, often serving her family with great love and devotion. As a proud wife of 44 years, she stood beside her husband, Michael Higginbotham, supporting him in all endeavors. Together, they created a nurturing home, filled with love and laughter. Nancy took immense pride in her role as a mother to Brooks Higginbotham (Erin) and Kaylee Longo (Andrew), and especially loved her moments as Nonnie to her beloved grandchildren—Khloe, Easton, Aliza, Joel, Esther, and Jonah. Her grandbabies were her proudest accomplishments, and she held them close to her heart, constantly cherishing the beautiful bond they shared. Throughout her life, she remained close to her siblings, Janet Darling, Susan Reardon (Bill), and Michael Thalmann, who hold dear memories created together. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Peggy Higginbotham, who she enjoyed spending time with.

In addition to her family, Nancy was known for her relationship with the Lord, her warm personality and her love for cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks. One of her favorite things to do with Michael was fishing, where she often caught many more fish than he did. She was an avid board and card game player and could often be found at the kitchen table playing Farkle with family, or dancing in the kitchen to the Eagles. She brought joy to every gathering, whether it was preparing the Thanksgiving meal or counting down the days to Christmas—her enthusiasm was contagious. Whether for comfort or celebration, Nancy's famed chocolate sheet cake became a requested favorite dessert of family and friends, especially the “Girts”-- Elyse and Rebekah. Her secret recipe served as a delicious reminder of her love expressed through the joy of baking.

A woman of remarkable spirit and tenacity, Nancy dedicated 45 years of her life to her career at Kroger, where she built lasting relationships with many. To her, life was a recipe, mixed together with the ingredients of her family’s laughter, her spunky personality, and her positive outlook on life.

Nancy's infectious smile, vibrant presence, and her unwavering faith will be profoundly missed. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held on February 27, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home (1921 Main Street) followed by a Celebration of Life at 6:30 PM. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor her life by sharing their favorite memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Nancy Kay Higginbotham leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and joyful memories that will continue to inspire and resonate within the hearts of her family and friends.
