Nancy Hawthorn, age 63, of Sims, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020.
She was born on August 23, 1957, in Pine Bluff, the daughter of Marvin Franklin Ellis and Goldie Wynne Ellis. On July 1, 1982, she was married to Grady Hawthorn. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Gene Ellis, Dale Ellis and Marvin Franklin Ellis, Jr.
Nancy loved all animals, but horses were her life. She attended Meredith Manor, a school for horse trainers in West Virginia. She showed horses, not only for herself, but professionally for others. Nancy was also a paramedic and served as a first responder for the Sims Volunteer Fire Department. She loved to read and was fond of giving quotes from some of her favorite books and movies.
But the true love of her life was Grady Hawthorn. She was happiest when she was working cattle or trail riding with him. One of her biggest joys was hunting with Grady whether it was deer hunting or elk hunting in Colorado, it didn’t matter as long as she could be with him.
She is survived by her husband, Grady Hawthorn of Sims; her step-daughters and their spouses, Ann and David Koller of Magnet Cove and Vicki and Tim Hughes of Bryant; four grandchildren, Brennen Koller, Brailyn Koller, Lauren Hughes and Blake Hughes; her brother and sister-in-law, Shane and Katie Ellis of Fort Smith and their son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Cyndey Ellis; and many other nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are planned at a later date.
Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Memorials may be made to the Jed Harper Foundation, PO Box 727, Mount Ida, Arkansas 71957 or the Brooks Thew Mayberry Foundation, 522 Alexander Road, Mount Ida, Arkansas 71957.
