Myrna Rundell
Myrna "Joy" Rundell, born January 6, 1941, departed this life on August 5, 2015 from natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Margie Rundell. She is survived by her aunt, Susie Caldwell and several first and second cousins. Her beloved Yorkies, Ben and Gabe, are being loved and cared for by a dear friend per her wishes.
Joy graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1959 and from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She had a long and rewarding teaching career beginning with ASD, Mount St. Mary's and the Little Rock Public School District from which she retired in 2005.
In her early years, she loved tap dancing and in later years, taught at the Dorothy Donaldson Studio. She was an avid War Eagle Fair attendee as well as attending craft fairs all over the state. She loved making gifts for all her friends. She participated in all her North Little Rock High School alumni dinners and events and helped with all class reunions.
Joy was a devoted member of Geyer Springs United Methodist Church. She attended "play day", worked in the food pantry and was available for any job necessary at her church. The church family was extremely important to her life. Her teacher friends, close neighbors and high school classmates will remember her with love and devotion.
A special thanks goes to the first responders, the Little Rock Fire Department, Little Rock Police Department, MEMS and her loving neighbors.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), officiated by Rev. Jeremy Pressgrove. Interment will take place on Thursday, August 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Geyer Springs United Methodist Church, 5500 Geyer Springs Rd., Little Rock, AR 72209 or to Care for Animals, Inc., 5516 Kavanaugh Blvd., Little Rock, AR 72207.
