Myrl Ruth Plyler

Myrl Ruth Plyler, age 85, of Glenwood, died Sunday, May 20, 2012. She was born on March 30, 1927, in Kirby, the daughter of William Hester Cook and Carrie Eulla Barentine Cook. On August 14, 1943, she was married to John Jonas Plyler, Sr., who preceded her in death on June 6, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Plyler. She was a member of the Glenwood Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Karen and Dwight Kirkpatrick of Arkadelphia, Judy and Joe Ray Short of Glenwood, Billy and Diana Plyler of Glenwood, Johnny and Twyla Plyler of Glenwood and Jeannie and Greg Nalley of Benton; fourteen grandchildren and their spouses, Lynnette and Billy Strickland, Leah and Wesley Wright, Lance and Jeanie Kirkpatrick, Lee Kirkpatrick, Elizabeth Pennington, Deshe and Rodney Ledbetter, Julie and Sam Young, Brandie and Brooks Killian, Audra and Dan Wilson, Adam Hensen, Raleigh Hansen, Madison Plyler, Elesha Horton and Jordan Horton; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Carl and Mary Plyler of Glenwood and Edith Sunderland of Hot Springs; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 24, 2012, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Joe Ray Short, Bro. Tom DuBose and Bro. John Clift officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be John Wayne Plyler, Danny Plyler, Warren Plyler, Carl Plyler, Bo Plyler and Mark Sunderland. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Plyler and Jerry Sunderland.
