Myran Hefner

Myran Ray Hefner of Beebe, Arkansas, passed away January 2, 2016, at the age of 67. Ray was born November 12, 1948 in Searcy, Arkansas to James Dueward Hefner and Barbara Emmette "Bobbie" (McCollum) Hefner. A life-long resident of the Antioch community, Ray attended elementary school in Antioch until it was consolidated into the Beebe Public School system, where he graduated in 1966. He attended ASU-Beebe before joining the U.S. Navy at age 19. He was honorably discharged in 1971 after four years of service, which included two tours to Vietnam.

An aircraft electrician by trade, Ray spent the bulk of his career working in the avionics industry in Little Rock. He had a second career traveling the United States, locating fiber optic cable in and around construction sites, a job that very much suited his adventurous nature. During the later years of his life, Ray was employed in the maintenance department at the Beebe Housing Authority, where he retired in 2014.

Ray was a Baptist and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He lived a life of humility, valued friendships over possessions, and was always willing to help others. He was an honorable man.

Preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Ray is survived by his son, Shawn Hefner and wife Julie of Little Rock; daughter Amanda Oldham and husband Matt of Cabot; grandchildren, Madison Hefner, Luke Hefner, Trevor Mosley, Ethan Mosley, and Aden Mosley; two brothers, Lynn Hefner and wife Lynn of Cabot, Keith Hefner and wife Missy of Van Buren; and four nieces and one nephew who will forever miss their fun uncle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Cemetery Fund, Attn: J. T. Belew, 535 Louie Pruitt Road, Beebe, AR 72012.
