Gaston V. "Mutt" Efird, age 87 of Bismarck, went to be with the Lord, March 27, 2018. He was born May 2, 1930, the son of Vernon and Ruby Simonds Efird in Caney, AR. He retired from Reynolds Metals Company and was an avid Bluegrass musician. He served as a deacon for Caney MBC for 39 years.

Mutt is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ruby; one grandson Brett Martin; and two sisters, Margell Hartsell and Estelle Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Elderie Efird; two daughters, Donna Martin and Carolyn Nivens and her husband Luke; one son, Ronnie Efird and his wife Regina; six grandchildren, Jodie Holt and husband Mike, Robyn Chastain and husband Mark, Jamie Martin and wife Tara, Brian Nivens and wife Jamie, Brooke Copeland and husband Scott and Derek Efird and wife Holly; one sister LaVerne Cagle and husband Tommy and 16 great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Wednesday evening in the Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday March 29, at the Caney Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Robert Cossey and Bro. Ralph Ruffin officiating. Burial will be in the Prarie Bayou Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jamie Martin, Brian Nivens, Derek Efird, Mike Holt, Mark Chastain and Scott Copeland. Honorary Pallbearers will be his great grandchildren, the Deacons of Caney MBC, and his nephews. Memorials may be made to the Caney MBC Building Fund, 4118 Hwy. 128 Bismarck, AR 71929, or Prarie Bayou Cemetery fund, c/o Elderie Efird, 20133 Hwy 84 Malvern, AR 72104
