Peggy Sauls Cornett passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, after suffering a broken leg. Her body struggled to mend, but in its 93rd year of life, lacked the strength to recover from the trauma. She was born on July 26, 1930, in Atlanta, Georgia to Joseph and Grace Sauls. She had three siblings, Earnest, Raymond, and Eleanor who preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Marion Franklin Cornett on June 27, 1954. Marion passed in August of 2001.
Peggy and Marion had three children: Connie, Cindy, and Marion Jr. Peggy was a devoted mother whose concern for her children never faded. Even into her nineties, she would throw out a protective arm across her offspring when the car in which she was riding stopped suddenly. Peggyâs and Marionâs love grew and blossomed into nine grandchildren (Donna, Daniel, Megan, Matthew, Zach, Joe, Rebekah, Michael, and Jonathan) and thirteen great-grandchildren (Kaden, Madison, Brendon, McKenzie, Trenton, Sam, Lilly-Grace, Jesse, Eliza, Zeke, Etta, Hannah, and Drew). She was a beloved âMemommyâ who always kept the M&M jar full. Her love touched each member of the family, and she will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Griffin Leggett Funeral Home at 1751 Dave Ward Drive in Conway, Arkansas. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Mayflower located at 4 Highway 89 North in Mayflower, Arkansas. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Forest Hills Cemetery at 10200 Stagecoach Road (Arkansas 5) in Alexander, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judeâs Childrenâs Research Hospital in celebration of the love she held for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
