Dewey Ray (Sonny) Chism, Sr., 74, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2010. He was the owner/operator of his family business, Brown & Chism Upholstery for the last 40 years, along with his wife, Betty Chism of 51 years.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Sheila Standley, of Sherwood, Kathy Chism, of Bryant, and Debbie Montgomery, of Hensley; one son, Robby Chism, of Little Rock; two sisters, Betty Ann Ball, of Jacksonville, and Irene Walker, of Beebe; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lottie Chism; his son, Dewey Ray Chism Jr.; four brothers, Jesse Chism, Carlos Chism, Earl Chism, and Ray Chism; and three sisters, Bobbie Slack, Pat Swaim, and Ruth Clowers.
Sonny loved to work in his upholstery shop, enjoyed fishing, was a true family man, and loved his wife and family and all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by many, as he was a special husband, daddy, papaw, and friend.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
