Carl James "Chuck" Mueller, 89, passed away December 17, 2010. He was born December 2, 1921, in Little Rock, to Carl and Med Mueller. Chuck attended Little Rock Public Schools and graduated from Little Rock Senior High. He attended Arkansas Polytechnic College in Russellville where he played baseball on the college team for 2 years. He served in the 13th Air Force in the SW Pacific during World War II and flew 51 combat missions in a B-24 Liberator Bomber. Chuck was employed by Superior Forwarding Company for 28 years, serving as the Southern District Sales Manager for 20 years. He worked for Batesville Truck Lines for 3 years as a Sales Representative, Dillard's Executive Travel for 10 years and worked as a Merchandiser for SPAR Marketing for 8 years.
Chuck was presently a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Little Rock, where he was President of the Triune Sunday School class. He had previously served there as a Steward and Sunday School Superintendent. Chuck previously served as an Elder and Sunday School Superintendent at the First Presbyterian Church of North Little Rock.
Chuck was the coordinator of volunteers at the Ft. Roots VA Golf course for 6 years and a volunteer at the VA volunteer office. He served as volunteer at the Emerald Park Golf Course; was a former President of the Emerald Park Men's Golf Association; was a volunteer at the Camp Robinson Duffer's Club Golf Course and a former member of the Camp Robinson Men's Golf Association. Chuck served as President and Secretary Treasurer of the Central Arkansas Transportation Club, Chapter President of the National Defense Transportation Association, and member of the Southwest Shipper's Advisory Board. For the past 14 years, he has served in the Camp Robinson Chapel Ministries.
Chuck is survived by one daughter, Carla Martin (Dean); one son, Patrick Mueller, both of North Little Rock; grandchildren, April Kerr (Gary), Kenneth Hagerman (Sarah), Gemia Andrews (Eric), and Sallie Martin; great grandchildren, Katie Kerr, Colton Kerr, Krysta Kerr, Cara Kerr, Kali Kerr, Christopher Andrews, Carly Sue Andrews, J.J. Andrews and Orion Westergren.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 116 South Pine Street, North Little Rock, AR 72114.
