Mackie J. Montgomery, 87, of Conway was born June, 23, 1929 and passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rebecca Montgomery and children, Steven Jones and his wife Kim of Conway, Abraham Jones of Conway, Jimmy Smyth and his wife Shelly of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Bonnie Smyth-McGaha and her husband Ronnie of Conway as well as his daughters Barbara, Donna, Karen and Genette. Other survivors include his brothers Huey and Dewey Montgomery of Truman, Arkansas and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Claura Riggs Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery proudly served his country in the US Army for 22 years and achieved rank of Sgt. 1st Class having served in both Korea and Vietnam. Honors include a Purple Heart in Korea and the Army Rifleman Presidents Cup Award in 1964; he also retired from Kimberly Clark after 30 years. He enjoyed playing golf, coin collecting and traveling with family to Civil War Battlefields. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice in his honor. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Griffin Leggett Conway Funeral Home, 1751 Dave Ward Drive.
