Monroe A. "Dude" Kirkpatrick

Jesus said, “Whosoever liveth and believeth and in me shall never die.”

Death is not the end of our experience, it is just a transformation from our physical body to the spiritual one.

Monroe A. “Dude” Kirkpatrick, born in Little Rock, on September 27, 1932, left this world after a long illness, on February 5, 2023. He was the son of Frank and Bessie (Crow) Kirkpatrick. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thomas Kirkpatrick and John Pete Kirkpatrick; and a grandchild, Brandt Crook.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mattie (Louise) Goodson-Kirkpatrick, they were blessed with three children, Sharon, David, and Jimmy Kirkpatrick; two grandchildren, Billy Crook, and Jae Kirkpatrick; five great-grandchildren, Kaylan Crook, Ashlyn Crook-Connell, Valerie Kirkpatrick, Michael Kirkpatrick-Thurston and Billy Crook, Jr.; and three great-great-grandchildren, Hunter McCall, Wrenlee and Hunter T.J. Connell; and brother, Jackie (Jack) Kirkpatrick.

Since uncle Jack was eleven years younger, daddy took it upon himself to be my Uncle Jack’s buddy. From the stories we have heard, they had some high old times together. Daddy had a multitude of friends and family who loved him dearly. One of daddy’s greatest joys was listening to bluegrass music and old country songs.

When he was young, he and I would sometimes have a great time clogg dancing. We both had a love for music especially that good ole blue grass. He sometimes went coon hunting at night, so I asked one night if I could go with him. Well, that was my first and last trip when I found out the dogs were the predator and the coon was the prize kill. After that I said “nope, not on my watch and not tonight.”
