Moleta Stamps, a long-time resident of Little Rock, Arkansas, peacefully passed away Thursday, August 27, 2009, at age 76.
Born 1932 in Erick, Oklahoma to the late Ules Davis and Cloie Davis Costoff, she was preceded in death by her father, then later her mother and stepfather, Charles Costoff of Conway, Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ida Mae McCown of Borger, Texas.
Moleta was a very gracious mom to her four daughters and was known as Granny to her four grandsons and one great-granddaughter. She donated many endless hours in sewing and crocheting to the various hospitals and nursing homes in the Little Rock area. Her favorite was crocheting hats and booties for the newborn babies.
She attended First Baptist Church in Jacksonville and later Lifeline Baptist Church in Little Rock where she was very active.
Moleta was the Pulaski Family and Community Education 3rd vice president from 1992-1995. She also was awarded the honor of Pulaski County EHC Homemaker of the year in 1992.
She is survived by her husband, Jerrel Nelson Stamps; her daughters, Cathy Alley of Little Rock, Sissy Stamps of Beebe, Shelly Herndon Leggieri of Beebe and Kelly Brundage of Sarasota, Florida; grandsons Justin (Mindi) Alley of Little Rock, Jeremy Herndon of Little Rock, Taylor Leggieri of Beebe and Cody Brundage of Sarasota, Florida; great-granddaughter Haven Grace Alley of Little Rock and another great-granddaughter due in September. In addition, she is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2009, at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Stoney Point Cemetery. Casual attire is acceptable. Memorials may be made to Florence Crittenton Home, 3600 W. 11th St., Little Rock, AR 72204.
